This past weekend Ford opened the doors to their “Heritage Vault”, a collection of cars managed & overseen by Ford Performance. The entire collection consists of roughly 150 cars with close to half of them on display during the grand opening.

The event hosted a variety of everything from concept cars, first unit chassis examples, low mileage examples, to important milestone cars like the 10,000,000th Mustang produced. Greeting you outside of the vault Ford had on display a range of current models, future models to be introduced, & some track toys.

Sitting pretty out front was a trio of matching Mustangs. Starting with the “Spirit of America” Mustang GTD, the Mustang GTD used in the IMSA series, & a Mustang Darkhorse used in the Mustang Cup Series.

One of my favorite customer cars to show up to the event was a 2017 Ford GT ‘66 Heritage Edition (chassis H021) finished in Shadow Black with small touches of gold throughout the car & hints of blue on the seatbelts.

This is just a small glimpse of what’s inside waiting for you upon your next visit, I don’t want to spoil too much for you but there’s a few important cars I want to touch on. Like these Mustang Cobra R’s. This is the 1993, 1995 and 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R but even more special they are all chassis #1 for their model year.

If you’re not a Mustang fan, Ford has something tucked away for you too, don’t you worry sweetheart. Pre-production chassis #1,#2,#3 are ready for you to drool all over them! (Not literally please don’t touch or drool on the cars)

Pre-production chassis #1 is finished in Centennial White with Blue stripes. The Ford GT was called Ford's "Centennial Supercar” hence the color decision. It was launched during the company's 100th anniversary & only a year after the start of the GT program.

Pre-production chassis #2 is finished in Mark IV Red Clearcoat with White stripes.

Pre-production chassis #3 was originally painted in Midnight Blue Clearcoat but it was later repainted in the Heritage Gulf livery.

This is by far one of my favorite GT specs & the most crazy I’ve seen. This is pre-production chassis H987 inspired after the original prototype that debuted at the New York International Auto Show on April 3rd, 1964. Ford calls it the ‘64 Prototype Heritage Edition & it was the first of 5 prototype Heritage editions that Ford produced for the new GT. This chassis is finished in Wimbledon White with Antimatter Blue accents & thin exposed carbon fiber stripes, sitting on matching Antimatter Blue painted carbon fiber wheels & finished with Lightspeed Blue Alcantara suede seats in the cabin.

If that’s not crazy enough for you, how about a pre-production GT Mk. II used for the development of the competition series GT’s.

“The GT Mk.II unleashes the full performance potential of the Ford GT without any artificial performance limitations dictated by racing regulators.”

said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford's purchasing & product manager.

Normally one of these Mk.II would have a unique chassis number/vin in the form of “FP-MM-MKII-XXX” but since this is a pre-production unit, it has the chassis number 2FAGP9CW1HH199989.

If you’ve read all this so far, honestly I’m impressed & hope you’ve enjoyed.
